African Violet

Painted skeins are yarns produced in my mini commercial mill from 100% New Zealand grown and produced commercial Corriedale roving which is then dyed by me, pindrafted and spun in the mill.  Each skein is unique.  Usually there are between 3 and 5 colours used in a colourway and how it expresses itself during the spinning process is evident in the finished skein.  These are wonderful for colourwork.  100% Corriedale shed spun, hand dyed and spun in the Mill.  If you have a preference for leaning towards a particular colour preference please message me and let me know.  

Weight / ply: 10 ply / worsted

Fibre : 100% New Zealand Corriedale

Meterage: 160-170m  175-185 yd / 100g

Recommended needles: 4.5 to 6.5 mm (7 to 10.5 US)

Approximate gauge:

Due to the nature of my small batch mill, yarn is not like fully commercial yarn and often looks more like a handspun with variations in thickness throughout the yarn.  Each batch is measured on a McMorrin scale to give an approximate length per 100g.  Please enjoy the non-commercial qualities of the yarn. 

Care Instructions:  All of my yarn is non-superwash.  Gentle wash with appropriate product such as Powerscour® Fibre wash.  Do not wring.  Towel dry and then lay flat until completely dry (in the shade).  With pure wool only occasional washing is recommended.
